Marketers Are Impressed with YouTube

Based on several marketing articles I have read recently, it seems that YouTube has become a very popular marketing gadget. This statement is primarily based on comments and feedback from several marketing agency owners. Because of all the new features YouTube has added over the past year, these agencies are now using YouTube in many of their marketing campaigns. Since I only visit the YouTube website to view videos, I was curious to see some of these new marketing features.

One of the first things I noticed when I recently visited the website was that there were a lot... - read more...

Remembering Legendary Musical Artists

From time to time I like to reflect back on some of the people who have created great music over the years. For me personally, this is one of the best ways to relax.

This past week I was thinking about all the great music created by the Electric Light Orchestra. This was one of my favorite groups during the 1970's. I really liked their unique sound and style. Two of my favorite songs by this group was Evil Woman and Sweet Talking Woman. I am not sure exactly why I liked these songs so much, but I think it was because of the sound and the unusual lyrics. The sound from... - read more...

Working for a Crazy Boss

For all those in the workforce, you have probably worked for at least one crazy manager or supervisor during your career. I personally have worked for three

The first crazy boss I had was when I worked as a customer service agent for a large insurance company. I worked on the second shift and my manager was really crazy. The manager was a forty plus year old woman, and she always complained about people spying on her. It got so bad at one point that some of the staff (including me) were scared to go into her office. For some reason she had it fixed in her mind that someone... - read more...

The 2016 Presidential Election

Although it seems like we just got past the 2012 presidential election, there are a lot of people already talking about the election for 2016. Honestly, it seemed like people were actually starting to talk about the 2016 election even before the 2012 election was over.

I can remember seeing numerous online blog posts in November about who should be running for the 2016 presidential election. One name that came up very frequently was Hillary Clinton. Based on some of the online comments I read, there are a lot of people who would love to see Hillary become president. Most... - read more...

Unstable Co-Workers

In recent years I have been hearing more and more stories about people working with co-workers who are unstable. At first I thought these stories were from people who were just trying to be funny. However as I continued reading more and more stories I realized that these people were serious. I have to say that I was a little surprised at the large percentage of people today who are categorized as unstable.

One of the articles I read featured a story about a man who worked with a woman that was addicted to cold medicine. He said that when he initially saw this woman taking... - read more...

More Bad Layoff Stories

This is a follow up to a previous post last week about bad layoff experiences.

The main story in this post is from a woman named Glodean who used to work as a copywriter for a digital marketing agency. Before getting laid off, Glodean had worked at the agency for eight years. Over the years she had gotten consistent raises and the agency was also consistently signing on new clients. Because of this she had no reason to believe that the agency was experiencing any financial trouble. She first became aware that something was wrong when a moving company started moving out... - read more...

The Job Search

These are three words that I hear from some of my friends at least three times a week. As you have guessed these are individuals currently on the hunt for a new job. Some are optimistic about their job hunting prospects, while others are very disappointed in the limited number of job opportunities available. Since I have been out of work many times myself, I am very sympathetic and understanding to their current situation. This is why I am always sending out emails each week to all of them asking about their job searching updates.

Last week I received an email back from a... - read more...

Chocolate Dessert Week

About twice a year I create my own “Chocolate Dessert Week”. This is my special week to create my favorite chocolate dessert recipes without feeling guilty about it. I usually do this during the winter and summer. Last year during the first week of June, I actually hosted a chocolate party and had over fifty guests. Each guests had a chance to taste of all of my chocolate creations and rate them. One of the items I created during this event was a five layer chocolate and toasted coconut cake. It took me about three hours to make this cake, but it only took thirty minutes for the guests... - read more...

An Educational Real Estate TV Show

There is a real estate show on television right now that I really like called Property Brothers. This show does a great job of showing home owners how they can transform fixer upper homes into valuable properties.

I recently saw an episode on Property Brothers that involved transforming a really bad looking ranch home into a very high end quality property. The couple featured in this episode were looking for a home in the city that would allow them to move out of the suburbs. While living in the suburbs for the past ten years their work commute times had been ranging from... - read more...

Brunch Menu Ideas

It's that time of the year again when I start getting emails from friends asking for brunch recipes. It seems like when Spring arrives a lot of people like to experiment with recipes and do some entertaining. Whenever I am preparing a brunch menu I like to keep things interesting and light. Below are some of the menus and recipes I have been using for brunch parties for the past several years.

In 2012 I hosted several brunches and many of them began with a waffle and omelet buffet. In order to create this buffet I prepared stacks of waffles which were accompanied by four... - read more...
